How interface design issues affect how likely users are to fill out forms

Interesting articles describing the conventions popular sites use when it comes to sign-up forms.  Bear in mind that this data is based on the usage of 100 popular sites, which is a very small and limited data set.  But perhaps interesting nonetheless.
